With strong holiday demand for the third generation Kindle, Amazon's eReader device accounted for nearly half of all eBook reader sales in 2010 according to a report from International Data Corp.

The IDC report showed that eReader sales more than doubled in the 4th quarter of 2010 and high demand for the third generation Kindle helped pick up some slack on a lower than expected 3rd quarter for Amazon.

In late 2010 Amazon announced that the Kindle 3 has become the best selling single product in the company's history.
